This spicy southern collard greens dish is extremely flavorful and holds just the right amount of spice, making them an irresistible soul food side!

  • 2 bunches of fresh collard greens or 2 pre-cut bags of fresh collard greens 
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil 
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper 
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder 
  • 1 teaspoon minced onion powder or flakes 
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes 
  • 48-ounce container vegetable broth
  • Feel free to add any of your favorite seasonings to enhance taste


  1. Remove stems from the fresh greens. 
  2. Thoroughly wash them and cut them up.
  3. Place greens in a large pot. 
  4. Add vegetable broth. 
  5. Add olive oil and seasonings and mix thoroughly. 
  6. Cover and cook for at least 1 hour on medium heat or until greens are desired tenderness.
